The Foreign Investors’ Council publishes its Guide to the MFIC
The Montenegrin Foreign Investors’ Council has released a publication in English, the Guide to the MFIC, in cooperation with the regional editor, Alliance International Media (AIM) from Belgrade.
In this publication, the members of the Foreign Investors’ Council evaluate the business environment and investment climate in the country and point to those areas which need to be intensely worked on. Foreign investors have stated that the Government has some understanding of their needs and is open for dialogue, but there are some areas such as labour and labour legislation where more effort is needed. In addition to the members of the Council, representatives of the Government and the prime minister have expressed their views and future plans and they have confirmed their readiness to contribute to a better business climate, together with investors.
By publishing this Guide, the Council demonstrates that it is working actively to improve the business environment in the country and that it is achieving results. Recently, amendments to the Law on Foreigners were adopted, where half of the recommendations given by the Council were accepted. Other than its engagement in the adjustment of national legislation, the Council promotes other activities and is increasing its membership base. In the last six months, the Council has been enriched by the joining of several very important and respected companies, which are investing significant funds in Montenegro. In September, the Council will issue the White Book 2015, in which it will provide clear guidelines and recommendations to the Government for the removal of barriers to business and for improvement of the overall business environment.
The Council currently has 33 members that employ more than 8,000 people and make up around 30% of the country’s GDP.
